Multi-Factor Authentication at UMass Medical School

UPDATE

Effective Wednesday, June 20, 2018, Multi-Factor Authentication is required for Summit and PeopleSoft Finance.

As of August 1, 2017, you must enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication to access HR Direct

We are enhancing our systems to better protect your personal data!  UMass Medical School is implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) utilizing DUO, a product used to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information and University data. This is a University-wide security initiative with the goal of protecting against data breaches by ensuring only legitimate users and appropriate devices have access to your sensitive data.

MFA coming to HR Direct!

The MFA implementation will impact PeopleSoft HR Direct, the self-service human resources application that is available to all current UMass Medical School employees. This project is being implemented by UITS for all UMass Campuses. Check out our FAQ page for additional information.

What is MFA?

MFA is a two-factor authentication solution that provides additional security by requiring both something you know (your username and password), and something you have (such as a cell phone, hardware token, and/or landline) any time you authenticate to HR Direct.

What Do I Need To Do?

Step 1: Consider your preferred method for accessing HR Direct.  This will help you decide if you would like to use your cell phone or landline.

Step 2: Enroll in DUO - It's fast and easy.  Please see our enrollment instructions.

Step 3: Access HR Direct.  You will then be prompted to use your second factor (your cell phone or landline).

Step 4: Conduct your HR Direct business as usual.
