Overview

Biochemistry & Molecular Pharmacology Departmental facilities include X-ray spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy (500 MHz & 600 MHz), time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, Leica inverted confocal microscope, VP-ITC, and VP-DSC, Biacore T100, multiple imaging systems, centrifuges, phosphor-imagers, and many other centrally located instrument that are available to all members within the department. In addition to BMP-housed facilities, UMMS has vast array of research support facilities for researchers:  proteomics & mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, electron microscopy, flow cytometry, genotyping, human embryonic stem cell, live animal imaging, GeneChip and microarray, peptide synthesis, X-ray crystallography, deep sequencing, molecular modeling, tissue culture, fluorescence-activate cell sorting, RNAi core, transgenic animal modeling, cancer center tissue bank, molecular biology core lab, histology lab, and a machine shop. There is also a central animal care facility set up in accordance with NIH guidelines.  All of the above resources are available to all UMMS researchers through the University Research Core Facilities.

The Facilities & Maintenance within the department is overseen by Luca Leone. With 13 years of experience in the BMP department, Luca is well equipped to oversee the daily operation of the labs.

The Information Services (IS) department at UMMS provides information resources and technology support to the UMass community. University personnel should use the IS web page to obtain additional information. Luca is also the BMP information specialist, Luca Leone, who works closely with the UMMS IS department insuring all the BMP computing needs are met.
