Strategic Planning

IMPACT 2025

A message from Chancellor Michael F. Collins

April 4, 2022

Two years after the initiation of our ambitious and aspirational strategic plan, IMPACT 2025, I am pleased to share a progress report on what we, as an academic community, have achieved so far as well as an updated version of the IMPACT 2025 plan itself.

The revised plan, which you can read below, includes a new strategic pillar devoted to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, while also reflecting our institution’s new name and identity, a consequence of the history-making and transformational $175 million philanthropic gift from The Morningside Foundation in September 2021.

As we shared at the February Virtual Town Hall, the progress we have made toward achieving the specific milestones and broader goals in IMPACT 2025 is striking, particularly when we reflect upon the fact that just five weeks after releasing the plan, the coronavirus pandemic forced us to pivot and adjust so many components of our work. Together, we proven that we are a resilient community, capable of remaining focused on creating our vision for the future while being flexible in the methods we employ to achieve that vision. The addition of a strategic pillar to coalesce our efforts related to diversity, equity and inclusion is but one example of this approach.

In subsequent years of the IMPACT 2025 plan, we will provide regular updates on the progress that is being achieved on each of these strategic priorities. Updates will be provided through UMass Chan Virtual Town Hall meetings, leadership memos and on this page.
