Goals of CTTC

1. Improve the identification of trauma and traumatic stress symptoms in children by widely disseminating training for professionals;
2. Improve access to treatment for youth and families who have experienced trauma and adversity; and
3. Broadly disseminate high quality, family-focused, culturally competent training in evidence-based treatment to clinicians who work with trauma-affected youth.

CTTC Services

Trauma-Informed Care Trainings (TIC)

We provide a variety of trainings in childhood trauma to help develop, enhance and strengthen the ability of child-serving professionals to identify and screen for trauma-related symptoms, and to make referrals to evidence-based trauma treatments. Professional groups we collaborate with include: pediatricians and medical professionals, law enforcement, courts, attorneys, schools, child welfare, advocacy groups, and others. LINK-KID – A Centralized Referral Service

We have established a toll-free number (1-855-LINK-KID) for families and the community to streamline the link between children in need of evidence-based trauma treatment and mental health providers who have been trained in these treatments. We are able to make referrals to treatment for ages 0-22. Treatments include Trauma-Focused Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency (ARC), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Alternatives for Families: Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (AF-CBT). If you are a MA clinician who has completed a full training cohort in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT); Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Attachment, Self Regulation, and Competency (ARC); Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT); Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems  (MATCH-ADTC), or Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy  (AF-CBT), and you would like your name added to our clinician database or are interested in hearing more about our project, please contact our CTTC Project Director, Jennifer Malcolm-Brown at jennifer.malcolmbrown@umassmed.edu or 774-455-4102. Evidence-Based Trauma Treatment Training (TF-CBT)

• We offer training and consultation in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to clinicians and supervisors in order to increase the number of providers trained in evidence-based trauma treatment in our state.
• TF-CBT is the most rigorously tested treatment for trauma in children, with research supporting that TF-CBT is more effective than therapy as usual for traumatized youth.
• TF-CBT is a time-limited, components-based trauma-focused model that involves child sessions, parent sessions, and combined parent-child sessions.
• The goal for providing training and consultation in TF-CBT is to increase access to treatment services for youth and families who have experienced trauma and families throughout Massachusetts.
• We will be providing additional advanced training in applications of TF-CBT for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Questioning (LGBTQ) youth, Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC), youth of substance abusing parents, and Transition Age Youth.
