Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Program Dates: May 29, 2022 - August 5, 2022 (Ten Week Program)
The UMass Chan Medical School Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity is a non-credit, ten-week, structured research experience. The program consists of "hands-on" laboratory research experience with an investigator serving as a mentor, role model and advisor. Summer Research Fellows will receive a $4000 stipend. Travel and local housing is paid for and arranged by the program. Participants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and at least eighteen years of age to apply.
The program is designed to provide participants in-depth exposure to actual bio medical research. Participants will create career-building connections between researchers, post docs, graduate students, and peers. The program encourages participants to consider biomedical research as a viable career choice.
The Summer Undergraduate Research Opportunity program is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and UMass Chan Provost's Office Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE).
High School Health Careers Program (HSHCP)
Program Dates: Sunday, July 3, 2022 - Friday, July 29, 2022 (Four Week Program)
The High School Health Careers Program (HSHCP) is a four week summer, tuition-free, residential program that offers current sophomore and junior high school students, unique opportunities to learn about the broad spectrum of healthcare and science professions. It is designed to improve the academic study and communication skills of the participants.
The program is open to Massachusetts residents who are sophomores or juniors in a Massachusetts high school. See other eligibility requirements on this page.
Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)
Program Dates: Sunday, May 29, 2022 - Friday, June 24, 2022 (Four Week Program)
The College Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is a tuition-free four-week residential program for undergraduate sophomores and juniors interested in entering the health professions. The goals of the program are to help participants improve their qualifications and competitive standing for admission to professional, graduate and/or medical school. The program is open to U.S. citizens or those with Permanent Resident status and who either graduated from a Massachusetts high school or attend a Massachusetts college or university.
Worcester Pipeline Collaborative
Its mission is to encourage, educate, and challenge under-represented, educationally and economically disadvantaged students for success in the biomedical, biotechnology research, and healthcare professions (BBHP) where they are traditionally under-represented.
Partnership activities include: mentoring, job-shadowing, tutoring, clinical, observerships, research internships, after-school science programs, visiting scientist programs, a speaker's bureau and family involvement activities. Students also become academically prepared to pursue BBHP in Massachusetts.
