Her studies focus on human adipose tissue development and its relationship to whole body insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Corvera received her MD and MSc in Molecular Biology at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, and was awarded a Fogarty International Fellowship to conduct postdoctoral studies in the United States.  She was faculty in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to the newly formed Program in Molecular Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School.
